Modern Minions

A modern setting has certain advantages.  One of which being fully automatic weapons that are wieldable by almost any character with a modicum of proficiency.  The other being a lack of good defensive magics to render these weapons irrelevant.  Thus you can equip your minions with weapons that can threaten the party without impacting their wealth significantly.  Even the lowly kobold could be a threat given a sub machine gun.

Dysfunction

Ever have those parties that shouldn't work out, but end up okay?  The ones with a Lawful Good Paladin and  Chaotic Evil Rogue.  The ones with a Pyromancer Sorcerer and a preserve nature Druid.  The ones where somehow the problems of each character make them work together better than ones that are supposed to be more unified.  I've had one or two in my time playing and DMing.

Apologies

There's so many ways to injure your friends in RPG worlds.  Some accidental, some not.  In any result you can't go wrong with apologies.  Even if the apologies seem rather empty.

Wind Mages

Everyone knows that fire mages are the craziest of mages.  After all there's that entire obsession with burning objects, burning buildings, burning teammates.  Your team is bound to get sick of it at some point.  Then you break out the other elements.  Wind is the next best choice because while you don't get to set things on fire to watch them burn, you do get to send them up into the air to watch them fly.  Or fall as the case may be.

Xen'drik

I do love me some pulp adventures.  No better place for them than Eberron and no better place for them in Eberron than Xen'drik.  An entire continent of ADVENTURE!  Yes, that was required.

Horizon

Adventurers tend to be much more mobile than the rest of their society.  This is for different reasons.
Sometimes their wanderlust takes them far from home.  In other cases society drives them away because they don't want a group of murderhobos sitting around bored.  Either way the horizon beckons.

Blasphemy

I've not run into any RPGer who takes this attitude in real life but quite a few of them on the internets.  Crazy internets people.  There is something to be said for knowing what you like, but being derisive towards others over them not liking what you like is silly.  And you should stop it if you're doing it.  I recommend trying a new system every once in a while.  That way you can find out if D&D is really the only system you like playing.  If it is, good for you.  If not, you're missing out.

Prismatic Ray

Some days you play the dark brooding character with a hidden secret past.  And other days you just want to be the most annoyingly cheerful character ever.  Prismatic Ray is the spell for the second character.  Nothing says I am happy to kill you today like a rainbow of damage and status effects.

Endure Elements

It's been a tad chilly here.  Makes me wish I could cast endure elements.  Sadly D&D has yet to teach me any real magic despite what Jack Chick would have you believe.  I admit to having worn shorts outside when there was a possibility of snow, but that was when I was younger.  I think moving south may have thinned my blood a wee bit.
